Our Background

Meet Georgia Cranfield
Founder & Therapist

Georgia is an AASW Mental Health Social Worker with years of experience in mental health and trauma, offering comprehensive support to children, young people, and adults. Having worked across a diverse range of communities in urban, regional, and remote areas, Georgia brings a rich depth of knowledge and clinical expertise in counselling, ensuring a tailored approach to each client’s unique needs and goals.

Currently based in Sydney, Georgia works from the land of The Gadigal People of the Eora Nation, after having lived and worked in the far west of NSW in Broken Hill, Wilcannia, and Menindee, on the land of the Barkindji and Wilyakali Nations. This background provides Georgia with a deep understanding of community diversity, cultural responsiveness, and the importance of creating safe spaces for healing.

Trauma Untangled was established in 2022; Georgia has a foundation of 10 years of clinical practice built on a trauma-informed, client-centred approach, focusing on flexibility to meet both short and long-term goals. The work is based on a phased treatment approach, drawing from a variety of therapeutic interventions to best support individuals and families. Georgia's therapeutic toolkit includes ethical and evidence based therapies and expertise in the assessment and treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and general mental health concerns. Techniques are largely cognitive behavioural as they are best-practice and evidence-based, including Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectic Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.  Whether providing direct counselling or clinical supervision, Georgia remains committed to a practice grounded in integrity, environmental sustainability, and holistic health, ensuring a compassionate and empowering experience for every client.

Georgia's work is further shaped by a Human Rights framework, with a focus on anti-oppressive practices and ecological models of intervention. Outside of the counselling room, Georgia enjoys spending time in nature, grounding and reconnecting with the natural world, which reflects her commitment to a sustainable future for both individuals and communities.

Georgia is passionate about equipping individuals, professionals, and organisations with the tools necessary to create inclusive, healing, and safe pathways for those affected by trauma.
